Ball State Taus Connor O’Malia and Nick Tubbs bravely put themselves on stage Thursday, November 17, 2011 to be auctioned off as part of the annual Ball State University Date Auction benefitting Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.

The auctioneer for the evening was Ball State Tau Chad Griewank. The auction was held in the historic Ball State Art Museum Hall with a standing room crowd of over 400 students. Chad worked hard to raise the most money for the men from all over campus including representatives from fraternities, ROTC, residence halls, and sports teams. Men were encouraged to dress up in ways that might improve their auction price. Connor dressed as a fireman and Nick as a patriotic American with flag apparel. Both Connor and Nick were auctioned off for $100 each. The event raised a total of nearly $1,500 for Riley.

The Date Auction is the fall activity of the Ball State University Dance Marathon group. Dance Marathon is a nationwide movement involving college and high school students at more than 150 schools across the country, all raising money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in their community throughout the school year.

Attached is video of Chad Griewank auctioning off one of the participants.
