DENTON, TX -- On Sept. 21, the Texas Kappa Gamma chapter elected Zach Spaulding as the 10th president in the 5-year history of the chapter.
Spaulding, 21, will lead the Taus at the University of North Texas in its continued quest of becoming a top chapter on campus.
"It's an amazing feeling, being able to step up for you guys," Spaulding said when addressing a member of the chapter. "The main thing is trying to give back all those things that the guys gave me all those years."
Spaulding, a psychology major, said he will work on improving the chapter's structure and communication during his term as Worthy Master.
Spaulding became a new member of Alpha Tau Omega in the Fall of 2009. Originally, Spaulding said he had no intention of joining a Greek-lettered organization, and that he was just trying to maneuver through school. Now, the Flower Mound native has the opportunity to lead a chapter that earned a True Merit Honorable Mention award in 2010.
"[ATO] was the first organization I met on campus where I was around a genuine group of guys that I wanted to be associated with," said Spaulding.
Jonathan Kimble, the previous president of the chapter, said he is very confident in Spaulding's ability to lead the fraternity.
"He's obviously one of the most well-balanced guys in our chapter," Kimble said. "He's something new and fresh, and that's something we need right now."
