Ball State Taus' leadership roles extend well outside of the Greek
community. Theta Alpha's president Colin Warner and Social Chairman Chad
Huffman both hold coaching positions in nearby communities.

Warner has spent the last three years on staff for the nearby Yorktown High
School wrestling team. He has served as the Junior Varsity head coach but is
making the transition to a varsity assistant, an impressive feat for still
being a volunteer.

His role consists of wrestling three times a week with the wrestlers while
giving them personal tips and instruction for improvement. Warner also
travels to tournaments with the team and coaches the students from their
corners.

"I love my experience. The coaching staff still treats me like a college
student, but gives me enough respect to be treated as an adult," says
Warner.

Since being on staff the team has placed second in state in a no-class
system and is competitive against much larger schools. Personally Warner has
contributed to four state qualifications, resulting in 7th place medals as
well as a state champion. He also has had two wrestlers lose one round away
from the state championship. During High School, Warner was a Regional
Wrestling Champion his senior year qualifying him for the individual state
tournament and was named an Indiana High School Athletic Association Role
Model featured in advertising campaigns.

Huffman is serving his first season as head coach of the Ball State Women's
club soccer team, a traveling team that competes against Mid-American
Conference club teams, as well as several other club teams.

With this being his first season as a head coach Huffman and his team are
optimistic about his 2-2-1 record.

Huffman has a unique situation. He received the head coaching position
midway through the season due to the previous coach lack of attendance
during practices and games. His enthusiasm and instruction has revived team
spirits.

"I am humbled to have such a high position at this level," said Huffman. "I
feel honored to coach these women who are my age or older than me. This is a
great challenge for me. The team was on a three game losing streak when I
came in. As a team, we have revamped their spirits and love for the game."

The brothers of Theta Alpha are proud to support their brothers and the
programs they lead and represent.
